Responses I received:
Recently we thought of introducing them gradually, but then realized no one was asking for them. I am sure we may revisit the idea in the future,
but as of now we are happy with the e-books available through ICONN.
I am anxious to see what others think!
P.S. I can't imagine moving the ENTIRE collection to e-books.

I was just having this conversation with my public librarian. I have one Kindle that circulates among both faculty and students. I'd like to catalog the titles on the Kindle so they are searchable. I'd love to hear what kind of responses you get to your query.

Hope you will share your findings....

We are gradually migrating our non-fiction collection to eBooks, where available. We are doing this by looking to eBooks within Follett, then looking for redundancies with our existing print collection and purchasing the overlapping titles. We are also looking for project-specific eBooks as we work through the curriculum. We still use both. We just want the eBooks to provide more virtual services. Yes, but they are resolved. It's beautiful. We use Destiny to deliver all our content, print, digital, databases, websites (including our own instructional resources), and town library collection records.

We use iPads and Pads. We circulate them, but since we don't yet use downloadable eBooks, we don't use them as eReaders. Our eBook loan period is one-hour, since it is limited to non-fiction titles for research. We only provide access through the brower-based ILS.

Subject: Migrating the school library collection from print to eBooks

Dear Colleagues,
Migrating the school library collection from print to eBooks
Will you please be able to provide me with some information on this topic?

* Are you aware of any school library in Connecticut (or elsewhere) that has migrated (or is in the process of migrating) its collections from a print to eBooks platform?

* What plan do you have in place for this migration from print to e-books platform?

* How did you plan for an extensive weeding of the print collections (fiction, non-fiction, textbooks)?

* Did you encounter any problems with this migration from print to an eBooks platform?

* Any special plans for the use of e-Readers in the library (e.g. any special reading program)?

Any feedback / recommendations will be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Brian Highland
