The Libraryof Congress is hiring for a Program Specialist for the Young Readers 
Center in the Jefferson Building. It is a full time position, DC- based and 
salary range is $89,033.00 to $115,742.00 / Per Year.  

 
The position is located in the Center for the Book (CFB), the Library of 
Congress’s principal book, reading, and literacy promotion office. The incumbent 
is responsible for one or more of the Center's program areas related to 
programming for children and youth; public events that encourage lifelong 
learning among adults; affiliated state centers for the book; national 
partnerships for promoting reading and literacy; and events relating to poetry, 
literature, and libraries. 

 
The incumbent provides full professional and administrative support and advice 
to the Center in all aspects of his/her official functions. The incumbent 
administers programs and special events which may include literature and poetry 
readings, lectures, and conferences sponsored by a variety of gift funds. The 
incumbent also provides continuity for the long-range planning, budgeting and 
operation of the Center’s programs. The Young Readers Center (YRC) is a key 
program area of the Center for the Book. Its major goal is to stimulate public 
awareness about how the Library of Congress promotes books, reading, literacy, 
and libraries for young readers and their parents and care-givers, as well as 
for teachers and librarians.
