[CASL-L] Small student groups

Hi David
Derby High School has Advisory Groups - ten students per group - we meet with our advisory group every other week for 20 minutes by following a modified schedule on advisory day to accommodate the advisory period. We have the same group of students for their entire four years at DHS and we do a variety of fun and serious activities which the building principal sends as suggestions; for instance, time management. The group size is able to be kept low because advisors are most everyone who works in the school full time: teachers, school librarian, most of the paraprofessionals (except for the secretaries), guidance counselors and the building administration.

Subject: [CASL-L] Small student groups

This is an off-topic question. Our middle school is trying to have a small group (15-20 students) of students meet once a month with a staff member as an informal type of advisory group. Do any of your schools do something similar, and if so, what type of activities do you do in those groups. Also, how often do those groups meet.

Thanks in advance for your help!
