Responding to the dialog about technology vs. information, and now Sara Kelly John and Carey D. Hartmann’s discussion…. Let me comment :  Get ready to hear (and speak yourself)  about “Research”  being another hot focus in the CCSS.      We have to get this message out there, because teachers are still in their silos.    Over a year ago, I created little invitations for our librarians to hand out.  I believe they would be more effective now, after the first year of CCSS instruction as teachers now know more about the standards.  If you do not see teachers, they are not “researching to build and present knowledge”  -- i.e. researching with information  (See attached invitation which was pulled from one of my AASL Webinar Common Core slides)
 
The disconnect with research often  lies in the fact that ELA teachers “own” the standards, but there is (was) often nothing in their teacher certification area to prepare them research and information literacy.  They are out of their comfort zone.  Conversely, this is within our “certification” area and yet we don’t own the standard.   Thus we should work together—but we all know that is not always the case.   In NYS we are working to get language such as “the librarian will/can …”  so at least we are mentioned, spotlighted, and recommended in the state materials that are released about research.  
 
I approached our NYS Department of Education  and formally asked them to consider “research” as another official Shift for the CCSS.  It was a bold claim, and they sort of chuckled, but—the request did not go unnoticed.   I can’t help but think it was fuel for the fire as they contemplated what next year’s CCSS PD  was to be.  And, sure enough…research is one of two spotlights in NYS  for ELA  instruction next year.

A few months ago someone posted (and I'm not sure if it was on this listserv or not) that Common Core Standards mentioned technology about 7 or 8 times and mentioned research many more times. 
 
Does anyone remember that post and who may have posted it and what those numbers were?
