I have had a wonderful 26 years in this great place to work. The position is a year-round one, but don’t let that stop you from applying. Summer session is much fun and only six weeks long. Here’s the announcement with a link for online applications.

> Director of Library Services
> Albuquerque Academy, an independent coed day school of approximately 1,100 students in grades 6 through 12, seeks applications for the position of Director of Library Services beginning with the 2015-16 school year. The Academy’s resources are committed to a mission comprising accessibility, affordability, excellence, caring, and outreach as we serve the greater Albuquerque area. As part of this mission, the school has attracted some of the finest students and educators in the country to its extensive facilities on a natural 312-acre site within the city limits of Albuquerque. At the heart of the campus is Simms Library, a 56,000 square foot facility filled with opportunity made available through a collection of more than 140,000 print and non-print items, 170 periodical subscriptions, and 23 online databases.
>
> Duties and Responsibilities
> A critical component of the director’s responsibilities will be the ability to guide the library into a new era of library usage and technological resources given the pace of change in the world. As the primary leader, the director is responsible for the overall administration, planning, budgeting, assessment, and policy development for library services and collections in response to the needs of the school community. The director oversees a group consisting of the full-time librarians, the library assistants, and the archivist. The director plans, implements and assesses library programs, policies and procedures and adjusts them as needed; he/she also prepares, justifies and oversees the budget, maintains accounts with vendors, approves credit card purchases, and monitors petty cash. The director provides reference and other assistance to library patrons to meet their information needs, and he/she recruits, hires, supervises and evaluates performance of library faculty and staff members.
>
> Required qualifications
> Successful applicants will have a master’s degree in a library or information field and five to ten years of service in libraries, including work with a variety of age groups. Significant supervisory experience is also strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have the ability to listen deeply, to connect to teachers, and to integrate the library in meaningful ways to the curriculum and the school’s mission.
