Hi Rachel,
In Milford we have a CERTO program where students are assigned to a teacher
of their choosing as that person's "assistant." This is in lieu of a study
hall period, and students do receive a grade and credit. The library
usually has at least two Certos per semester. They usually shelve books,
check books in, help put up displays, process new books, discard weeded
books, make copies, hang up flyers and posters, and any other odd jobs that
need to be done. Several of my past certos were also volunteers at the
public library.
Hope this helps,
