Board policy dictates no food in the library. There are exceptions because events are held in here and the hosts of those events provide food for the participants. For the most part, kids are respectful of the policy. We ask that kids keep water bottles under their chairs when using the computers. They are pretty good about that as well. I have an all-purpose office which the kids will occasionally use when they need to work and eat.

Subject: [CASL-L] food in school libraries

Good afternoon.

I'm wondering how many high school libraries allow students to eat while working. Do you have specific policies about that? Do you allow them to bring food from the cafeteria or just snacks? Are beverages near computers a problem?

Thanks for your time.
