This is the latest message from Ken Wiggin on the State Library Budget:
"Late last night the Senate passed the budget and sent it to the Governor.  The budget was unchanged from what I reported yesterday.
 
The legislature will be coming back in special session to act on bills implementing the budget and the capital budget (which includes public library construction funds and funding for fiber connections to the CEN for over 90 public libraries).  No date for that session has been announced.
 
I will continue to keep you posted.”

The Budget currently being debated in the House of Representatives would partially restore the cuts to statewide library services that had were in the Governor’s proposed budget.  There is also a small reduction in the funding for the  State-Wide Digital Library (iCONN and reQuest) and the State Library’s book budget in FY2016.  Once a budget is passed by the House it will then have to be voted on by the Senate. The current session ends at midnight tonight. I will provide the final budget numbers when a budget is passed.
