Aimee,

I've signed up with Brain Hive this year. Had been hearing about this
platform here and there and then Nella Szilagyi mentioned at edcamprsd6
that she started using it. I then decided to look into it too. You can join
for free. $1/checkout for eBooks (comes out of your library budget). They
have 9,000+ eBooks to choose from. *They JUST added some audio features.*
I'm very happy with it so far. Students are too. Haven't fully investigated
all possibilities.

Here's a line from a recent email from Lizbeth Stein in response to a
question I sent about audiobooks:

“The Interactive eBooks are a great option for the K-2 students and eBooks
with audio was developed for grades 4-12. These options are $2 per student
per checkout.” Below is her contact info:

As an administrator on Brain Hive account, if you set up an account, you
can checkout/explore to your heart's content without being charged! They
also give you Brain Hive bucks (usually about $50 toward checkouts). They
also have an option to purchase multiple-user copies of any books in
particular. (An entire class of 25, for example, could check out eBook
individually for $25 total or you could purchase a multi-user license--I
don't know price of these; the eBook with audio version is $2/checkout. I'd
give Lizbeth Stein a call, she can answer your questions about your needs
for the grade 8 class.) I'll be mentioning Brain Hive in my presentation at
CASL/CECA on Monday. Brain Hive is sending me some give-aways for attendees
that I'll share--not sure what's coming!

Enjoy,

~Val
