Lois Garrison passed away last week after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was a teacher in the New Hartford Public Schools for many years before
deciding to become a school library media specialist. Lois was a graduate
of the ARCLMS program and served as the library media specialist at the
Harwinton Consolidated School and Tootin Hills Elementary School
(Simsbury). Lois later became a member of the Faculty Advisory Board for
the ARCLMS program and gave back to her profession as an instructor and
program coordinator. I know that some of you may have known Lois as a
member of your ARCLMS cohort or as one of your instructors.
A celebration of Lois' life will be held on Thursday, February 11th at
4:00PM at the Shepard of the Hills Evangelical Lutheran Church on 7 Wescott
Road, Simsbury, CT. A reception will immediately follow in the Fellowship
Hall.
Donations may be sent directly to:
The Beekley Community Library
P.O. Box 247
New Hartford, CT 06057
Checks should be made payable to: "The Beekley Library." Please indicate
that the funds are intended for the Lois and Donald Garrison Fund.
As a library media specialist Lois enriched the lives of students and
colleagues with her passion for learning, love of books and enthusiasm for
technology. Her kind and caring spirit will be missed.
