Patrons will not be looking for this title in fiction collection.

I'd go with 512 rather than FIC

I think you need to decide what math functions/lessons are in the book. Algebra 512, Algebra foundations 512.9, General principals 511, Geometry516 and then use the cutter number for the author if you wish for it to sit in the Math section. I just looked the book up on Title wave and the preview looks like arithmetic operations 513.2.

Subject: [CASL-L] Middle/High school catalog question

Hi,

A math teacher requested the purchase a book that I’m having a hard time cataloging. The book is “The Number Devil” by Hans Enzensberger. LOC has it as fiction, but it deals with real math concepts. If this was historical fiction I would catalog it in fiction, but since the math lessons are real I’m tempted to catalog it in the 510s. Any catalogers out there want to help me out?

Thanks,
