[CASL-L] Video Equipment

I am looking for recommendations.
I will apply for a grant in my district for video equipment and don't know
what to buy.  A couple years ago I used ipods (that's what we had) for 4th
graders to film each other doing book talk interviews (one was the
interviewer, the other the interviewee, and a 3rd held the camera).  Sound
was a problem (noisy in the library with many groups doing this at once),
and the results were very wiggly.  I know tripods would be helpful, and
microphones.  I welcome any advice as to what equipment ideally to use for
this project.
