Good evening,

I am excited to let you know that McGee Middle School in Berlin has entered
the Follett Challenge, a $200,000 national education contest, hoping for a
chance to win one of the 13 prizes that will be awarded to recognize the
best in K-12 innovation.

Along with submitting an online application, McGee created a short video
highlighting the ways in which the staff collaborates to motivate students
to read. Twenty percent of the total score will be based on how we share
the highlights of our programs through our video and the number of votes we
receive.

It started yesterday and so far, we are in fifth place in the nation out of
120 schools. We currently have just under 2,000 votes despite having a snow
day today (and not having direct access to our students and staff who are
eligible to vote.)

Ten of the 13 total prizes, valued at $8,000 each, are from the People’s
Choice category and will solely be based on how many votes are received
from the public.

Please take a moment to watch and vote. Thank you. We appreciate it very
much!
