My grade 8 English teachers would like to take a break from* To Kill a
Mockingbird,* so we're scoping out some possibilities to replace. I just
finished reading *Dust Girl *and loved it. I see much potential for
discussion and activities (1930s music, Dust Bowl history, prejudice,
racism, coming-of-age, journey, fantasy/fairies, even food, etc.). Has
anyone used this book in an English class yet and care to share
feedback/lessons?
I just started reading *The Girl in the Blue Coat*, and have some other
potential possibilities too.
Thanks for any feedback,
~Val
