Casey - I love your SLOs!

Here's what the high school librarians in Milford have been using for the
past few years. We work in conjunction with our Health teachers in
assessing students' ability to both locate academic informational resources
and to provide an evaluation of the quality of those resources. The
students are also assessed on their ability to extract and incorporate
information into Health's decision-making model.

SLO:

*Students will demonstrate proficiency in the use of print and digital
media to gather, evaluate, use and present information.*Student Learning
Objectives will focus on the following aspects of the research process:
Identification and selection of appropriate resources, extraction of
relevant information, synthesis of information, proper citation of sources
and presentation of information.

Our IAGDs differ depending on the data we receive from the initial common
assessment. We need to set three IAGDs each semester. Last year this is
what I had to work with for Semester One:

IAGDs:

1. By the end of Semester 1, 100% (64) of the Grade 9 Health Education
students who earned a 3 or lower on Selection of Resources (Good,
Satisfactory, Needs Improvement) on the first common assessment will
demonstrate growth and learning by moving one or more levels higher on the
Selection of Resources marker as determined on the district rubric.

2. By the end of Semester 1, 100% (51) of the Grade 9 Health Education
students who scored a 2 or lower on the district rubric for Determination
of Resource Quality on the first common assessment will achieve a 3 or
higher (Good or Exemplary).

3. By the end of Semester 1, 16 of the 16 (100%) Grade 10, 11, and 12
Health Education students will move at least one level higher on Selection
of Resources as determined by the district rubric. (One student already
achieved a 4 on Selection of Resources; therefore this student must
maintain the 4 on this indicator.)
