[CASL-L] CASL-L Digest, Vol 4, Issue 148

Hi to my old colleague Michele!

Regarding your post on leveling your school library; although I'm the
Director of Technology, I am also the supervisor of Branford School
District's Library program. The topic of leveling came up when I arrived
here 3 years ago, and we have fought to keep from leveling our libraries
here. Since the purchase of Destiny is under my Technology budget, as our
compromise to those wanting leveling I purchased Destiny add-ons for the
ability to search by Lexile and also F & P level, in addition to the
regular reading level/interest searching. For JanMarie, they also have the
option to search by AR level. (see screenshot of the settings in the Back
Office setup.)

Hope this is helpful--it was not a huge expense and this helps students
find appropriate reading selections without singling them out if they read
at a lower level.

Donna
