**Apologies for the Cross-Posting**

We're building a new *grade 6 *Folktales/Myths/Fairy Tales & Short Stories
unit that will examine *archetypes* reflected in traditional stories AND
compare them to archetypes in modern short stories.

* I'm looking for examples of modern short stories (written at reading
levels of grades 5-7) that feature some of the traditional archetypes such
as:*

*hero, villain, damsel in distress, ingenue/innocent, sage,
trickster/jokester, mother figure, father figure *

Our working definition of 'modern' is anything for this age group published
from the 1960s to today.

I know that there are many other types of archetypes, but we're starting
with a basic group.

Thanks for any and all ideas!
