New Workshop! Planning for a Literacy Grant Application

Attend this workshop in Middletown on Thursday, November 29, 9:30-12:30, to learn how to develop a compelling grant application:

· identify your target audience, what motivates them, and how you know what they need

· describe the project activities by addressing who, why, what, where, when, and how

· identify project costs, and compose a project budget

Also learn about the wide range of literacy resources available from the State Library to support your projects, and talk with State Library experts about existing programs and partners who can help your project succeed.

This workshop is not required for LSTA literacy grant applicants but is strongly encouraged. Register online<https://cslib.libcal.com/event/4738815>.

LSTA Grant Information Sessions

The CT State Library is offering LSTA grants in two categories:

1. Six-month planning grants will provide up to $5,000 to assist libraries with planning initiatives to explore new services, assess and address the needs of changing population and patron bases, develop partnerships and collaboration, or write new strategic plans or long-range master plans.

2. One-year literacy grants will provide up to $7,500 to assist libraries with creating strategic, sustainable partnerships and lifelong learning programs that address the seven literacies (basic, early, civic/social, digital/information, financial, health, and legal) in their communities.

The following types of libraries are eligible to apply:

· Principal public libraries

· School libraries
