[CASL-L] books for a high school boy

[LaPlante, Casey]

Maybe something like Winger (Smith), Ready Player One (Cline), Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian (Alexie) or Into the Wild (Krakauer).  I find that boys like non-fiction a lot because it activates prior knowledge or feeds an interest.

I have a sophomore who struggles to find books he enjoys. I've tried offering him a wide variety of titles and genres (including some of my usual reluctant reader go-to regular novels, graphic novels, hi-lows, etc.). He expressed frustration recently and told me he just wants to like a book again like he did when he was little :(, which kind of broke my heart-he mentioned fond memories of reading Magic Treehouse and the Lunch Lady series. I'm going to order a few Wimpy Kids, which I personally love but don't currently have in my collection. Any ideas for other titles or series I could try with him?
