Per the request of several people, here are some examples of SLOs I have
used as part of my goals. Hope this helps!

- Lauren

2nd grade example:

This SLO covers 100% of at least three grade 2 Library Media classes with
a subgroup focus on those students who scored in the 0 - 9 range on the Grade
2 Media Benchmark Performance Task.

This subgroup was selected because the skills measured in the pretests are
foundational skills for basic research required in grade 2.

CCSS W.2.8 Recall information from experiences or gather information from
provided sources to answer a question.

SLO:

Students will increase proficiency in:

using keyword search strategies to 1. locate a nonfiction book in the media
center to answer a research question and to 2. locate an entry in a given
online source to answer a research question.

Target standards:

21CS Enable students to learn in relevant, real world 21st century
contexts (e.g., through project-based or other applied work)

21CS Solve different kinds of non-familiar problems in both conventional
and innovative ways

DPS DCP Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them (making sense
of an information problem)

DPS DCP Argumentation based on evidence (defending that your choice meets
the requirements)

4th grade example:

*SLO:*

Students in Grade 4 will increase proficiency in:

Using keyword search strategies to 1. locate a nonfiction book in the media
center catalog to answer a research question and 2. locate an online
source chosen by the student to answer a research question.

Rationale: This SLO covers 100% of grade 4 Library Media classes with a
subgroup focus on those students who scored in the 0 - 5 range on the Grade
4 Media Benchmark Performance Task.

This subgroup was selected because the skills measured in the pretests are
foundational skills for basic research required in grade 4.

CCSS W.2.8 Recall information from experiences or gather information from
provided sources to answer a question.

5th grade example:
*SLO:*
Students in 5th grade will demonstrate proficiency in the use of print and
digital media to gather, evaluate, use and present information. Student
Learning Objectives will focus on the following aspects of the research
process: Identification and selection of appropriate resources, extraction
of relevant information, synthesis of information, proper citation of
sources and presentation of information.
