There's a series of nonfiction books called Engineer It! by Carolyn Bernhardt for grades k-3 that can support your lessons. They have lots of pictures, simple directions and inexpensive materials.
The Fix-It Man by Susan Hood is a fun picture book. Told in rhyme, a boy creates Rube Goldberg machines to solve problems. Fix-It Man will inspire readers to create their own Rube Goldberg machines! | AASL Standards | Pinterest
