[CASL-L] Graduate Research Survey

Good Afternoon,


I am a graduate student at Southern Connecticut State University, and the current Library Media Specialist at Avon Middle School, in Avon, CT. I am reaching out to you to ask for assistance in completing research for my Thesis study, by completing a brief survey about the classification practices in your Library or Media Center. My research study will analyze the number of libraries currently switching from the traditional Dewey Decimal Classification to Genrefication, or other alternative methods of classification. This research will focus specifically on the number of libraries choosing to include nonfiction into the alternate classification, and their reasons behind it.


Attached is a short survey regarding what systems of classification you currently employ at your library. It should not take more than 5-10 minutes of your time, and your quick and immediate response will help me continue to analyze an exponentially growing trend in our field. If you choose to participate in this survey any information collected will remain private and confidential, and will not be used in any way to identify you, or your place of employment.
