*Will Tellabration happen this year? *
* YES!*
*We are excited to find a way.*
*We have many ideas and would love to hear yours. **It is time to get
started!*
We, at the *Connecticut Storytelling Center* make our livings being
creative. We also pride ourselves with being flexible and willing to go
the extra mile. Turns out these are the perfect skills needed for
*Tellabration*! this year.
*Tellabration! *is an international celebration of story. It is a
long-standing tradition with us at CSC, with its goals of introducing and
celebrating the art of storytelling to all ages and providing storytelling
events to a wide variety of venues at prices that everyone can appreciate.
All our venues find Tellabration to be an exciting and enriching addition
to their program offerings. In collaboration with the Connecticut
Storytelling Center, each *Tellabration!* can be customized to appeal to an
organization’s specific mission and audience.
*Tellabration!* is also a fundraiser for the CT Storytelling Center, as
our tellers donate their services for this event, so that all money raised
goes directly to the Connecticut Storytelling Center to help us with our
other programs, like literacy programs for the very young, etc.
*Tellabration!* is a win/win/win program!
We are excited to work with you to solve social distancing challenges. We
have a few ideas and would love to hear if you have solutions for your site
that we could talk about. Work with us! We can figure this out! Who
knows? We may create solutions that stick around long past this pandemic!
*Before:*
*In non-pandemic years, a storyteller or two would come to your venue and
perform live*.
*Venue* could be a library, community center, senior center, theater, home,
church, bookstore, historical society, museum, or school etc.
*Topics* could be history, Connecticut stories, myths, fairy tales,
personal stories, anything!
*Performance* could include music, dancing, audience participation,
workshops, etc.
*Price* for one Storyteller would be $250. Two would be $400. Less than
half the price of a regular event.
*Audience* could be any age group, from pre- schoolers to seniors, or
family audience of all ages.
*Workshops* that help audience members tell their own stories, or learn
acting skills, or improvisation or public speaking.
*Professional Development Workshops* for teachers
*Timeline* has always been November, till now. (Flexible means flexible!)
*All of that is still true!*
*Now, a live performer could come if your site can do that!*
*We have other options, too. Let us work together!*
*We are interested in your ideas!*
*NOW, in 2020, we could offer:*
*A live performer*, or two.
*A taped performance* you could access online
* A live online performance with audience participation*
(With Zoom or your platform choice)
* An online workshop with audience participation *
* Does your audience need a structured venue to express themselves
creatively?*
We can do that and create their own online group performance.
* BONUS: You could have multiple tellers for
one low price.*
*Traditionally Tellabration! has only been in November. This year is an
exception!*
*We cannot wait to figure this out with you!*
My name is Carol Glynn. I’m a storyteller myself, and I’m helping Ann
Shapiro, Executive Director with initial contacts and organization to get
the ball rolling. Ann will be kept informed about all discussions and will
be taking over in the fall. I will be contacting you in a short time to
answer any questions or talk about creative strategies.
My email is Tellabrationglynn at gmail.com, and my phone number is
860-334-3470. I look forward to chatting and planning with you!

*Who is your audience?*
Our storytellers can accommodate audiences of any age: Littlest Listeners
(ages 2 – 4), Children aged 5 – 12, Families, or Adults. We have programs
that focus on multicultural folk tales, history, personal life experiences,
songs that tell stories, the environment/nature, or stories tailored to
your organization’s needs.
A *Tellabration! Twist that* will be of particular interest to Senior
Centers and Historical Societies who want to collect oral history from
their members by putting out a call for people to come on a given date in
November to share stories about their town. The Connecticut Storytelling
Center provides a facilitator who will tell a short story based on
Connecticut history followed by an open-ended, but structured story sharing
time with the audience about the town's history as seen through the
people's eyes. The facilitator will prompt the audience’s memory by asking
questions about what it was like when they were children, major events that
they lived through, and changes they have seen.
The Connecticut Storytelling Center will provide:
Bios and photos of your storytellers
Press release for your local publicity
PDF of a poster for your site’s performance(s)
Statewide, general publicity
Audience Building Guidelines
Email blast to The Connecticut Storytelling Center list
Listing of *Tellabration!* sites on The Connecticut Storytelling Center
web site
Listing of The Connecticut Storytelling Center sites in *Hearsay,* The
Connecticut Storytelling Center newsletter
You will:
Send press releases to local newspapers, radio, cable TV
Email blast to your members, clients, patrons
List your *Tellabration!* on your web site
List your *Tellabration!* in your newsletter
Display poster locally
Fees:
Our standard financial arrangement is that each site pays a fee of $400 to
The Connecticut Storytelling Center for our services and two performers.
For a fee of $250, we will provide one teller.
Another way to produce a *Tellabration* is to charge admission. Tickets are
typically $10 for adults and $5 for children. Admission fees can be split
between The Connecticut Storytelling Center and your organization.
We appreciate your potential interest in hearing more about Tellabration. We
look forward to speaking with you further.
Thanks again,
The Connecticut Storytelling Center
