Thanks so much for this information - I was able to ask a couple of 10th graders to stop practicing their tik tok dances in class the other day - the look on their faces was priceless! (that old lady know tik tok???)

Love this and you! My 5th graders were tik tokking all morning! We did talk alot about social media age restrictions and why they exist but yes many of them have accounts and have even helped younger siblings set them up. I really appreciate your feedback on this!

Wondering why your students are dancing in their chairs while you teach? I have to let you know; they are not dancing because they are excited to learn…they are practicing their moves to post online in a platform called TikTok.
Completely puzzled? Common Sense Media can fill in the gaps and help you be in the “Know” https://www.commonsensemedia.org/blog/parents-ultimate-guide-to-tiktok
In an informal poll of Jackter students ALL grade levels are creating, posting, and searching content on this app, most with permission but without being monitored after that.
Please take a minute to read up on this trend, the app is BLOCKED at school but the practicing for their next post is taking place while you teach!

tpadua at nwr7.orgWe were gifted 30 pairs by a program associated with Yale. We are using them for grades 6,7,8. They are Oculus Go Headsets. They are set up using one Samsung phone with an Oculus App. At this point in time, students are viewing and interacting with content not creating it. There are many apps that are great for Social Studies/Geography and also amazing apps for Science. Visit https://www.oculus.com/experiences/go/You will also need charging stations for the glasses and for rechargeable batteries. The devices are easy to use. All students love them and the teachers have been very pleased.

Hello Jessica,
We have viewmasters purchased with technology funds in our district. Expeditions lend nicely to curriculum, but we are having issues with running the teacher lead ones. Only the student directed options are working. Sometimes wifi is an issue on the ipods when using them.

Hello All - My department head and I are working on a grant to help us integrate AR and VR experiences in our district. We are considering usage in elementary, middle, and high school. Currently, we are looking for information on how other districts use AR/VR. If you have any experience with this, would you please reply with any of the following types of information:
- Grade levels you have implemented AR/VR with
- Types/examples of projects
- Are your students mostly consuming AR/VR or creating with it?
- Have you been able to easily find/make curriculum connections?
- Have you found enough existing resources to make use of AR/VR easy and meaningful for teachers and students?
- What technology did you purchase and how did you acquire it (grants for example)?
- Have you been able to use the technology to support SEL and/or diversity education?
- Were there any major concerns from teachers (time, # of students, implementation, etc.?)
- Have you received any feedback from stakeholders on the use of this type of technology (positive or negative)?
- Any other pros/cons?
Thank you very much. It is so helpful to have this community to learn from.

As media specialists, one of our roles is teaching students about Internet Safety. I stumbled on this video yesterday, and it is one of the most powerful videos I have ever seen. As a parent and an educator, I feel every adult should be aware of the things our kids are exposed to, and how quickly it can happen to them without anyone's knowledge.

I am in a K-4 school and have Dell laptops in the library. Students use them for research (and the read aloud to you feature is helpful but noisy) and coding. I'd like to buy a set of quality headphones and am seeking recommendations. These will be re-used constantly, so I don't want earbuds. I have some now that are small, with little foam pads on the ears, which slip off or tear, and the skinny wires break. Plus they are a pain to wrap up and store at the end of a class.
Thank you Elaine ShapiroBroad Brook School
I would love this info too!

Hi all, I'm not sure if these are the best, but they are the ones my K-3 kids prefer.
Califone 2800-BL
They seem to fit them the best and I store them in plastic baggies. I've purchased others and they just want to use these.
