Thank you Jane for everything you do for librarians and students! Best of
luck in Texas. I am honored to be chairing the COCBA committee going
forward.
Elaine, typically, I have focused on the COCBA for the final trimester but
this year due to cohorting and scheduling challenges, I started back in
January. Over the years, we have covered COCBA books mostly in the library
but reach out to your PTOs. Some years they have purchased a set of books
for each k-3 classroom, other years a set per grade level. The teachers
have really enjoyed being part of the process. I try to do extension
activities with each book. People very generously share ideas on the Padlet
or the listserv. We have also tried to Skype with authors, illustrators
and other classrooms to discuss the books.
We hope to release next year's nominees early in September. I will keep you
all posted.
Happy June!
