[CASL-L] opening HS libraries

Hi All,

Our school library was physically open to students from August-November for
3 services only: Chromebook repair, printing and Destiny hold request
pickups/returns. During this time, there were only 3 cohorts of students,
hybrid (2 days in-person, 2 days remote), full-distance and a small group
of "full" in-person (4 days/week). Our two computers labs were available
for classes to sign up and use with in-person students, but very few did
this, or still do.

>From December-February, we opened to all in-person students to use the
library space in a limited capacity: reduced seating by 50% (to about 55
seats), social distancing markers and contact-tracing sheets placed on
floors, tables and chairs, and encouraged students to alert staff members
to assist them with borrowing materials as they browsed the shelves by
themselves to avoid high-touch surfaces.

At the beginning of March, there was a two-week, staggered return of most
of our students to 4-day, in-person learning. There are still hybrid and
full-distance cohorts, but far fewer students are enrolled in these models.
Our in-person visits have risen since the beginning of March to about 50-75
students per day.

We've maintained our virtual services since March 2020, and since the
beginning of 2020-21, have had hand sanitizer and surface sanitizing
stations setup throughout the library. Our custodial staff also comes in at
the middle of each day to spray the library's tables and chairs with
sanitizing mist.

Hope this is helpful. Good luck, and be well, all!
