Hello everyone,

I would appreciate any suggestions you may have for grades 5/6 summer
reading that would be of high interest related to this request (see
below). Please keep in mind that the novels and/or short stories should be
a range of reading levels as many of our students may be struggling
readers. I have a few titles in mind, but wanted your suggestions and
expertise as well. Thanks so much ahead of time!

"I am planning the summer STEM program for grades 5-8 this year. We are
using the Novel Engineering approach which combines literacy and STEM. With
each story they read, students determine a problem that the character
faces. Students then use engineering skills to design and build a tool that
would, hypothetically, solve a character’s problem, thus bringing the story
to an alternative resolution."
