[CASL-L] SEL SLO

Hello Amy and everyone,

I just heard from a teacher today when I reached out about SLOs. I am
wondering if you can use this idea to tie in SEL related topics/books to
various cultures. We are grades 5 and 6. All additional ideas regarding
what this could look like are welcomed! I am looking for input anyone
would have, especially in terms of how our role as LMSs can enrich this
idea/SLO in terms of lessons/activities, etc. I may be centering my SLOs
around this idea she presented:

"I'm looking to build family engagement within my cohort of classes. I
believe that doing so strengthens the learning experience of kids when
families are visible members of our teaching and learning. My focus will be
literacy. I would like to host two families each month to come in and do a
read aloud - a book that speaks to their culture, family history, values,
etc. I would purchase these books for the family and have them on display
in class for students to read throughout the year.
At the close of the year, I would host a literacy celebration of all
families who have joined us as guest readers throughout the year. "

Respectfully,
