[CASL-L] book recommendations

Good morning,

One of our special education teachers sent me this request.  Just passing it along in case any of you have any recommendations.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I am teaching American Literature and want to focus on not the typical reads. I want to split the semester up into 2 sections: Native American Literature and African American Literature. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for short stories or books that fall under these topics that would be between a 2nd and 4th grade reading level.
