[MCOH-EH] EPIC--good luck!

We went live with Cerner about a year ago. The plan during development was to incorporate Employee Health. Cerner had the same problem as below, with the request to have HR data integrated. We ended up only using Cerner for ordering serology/radiology on employees. We had some issues with firewalls also.

We are still using our old EHR for Employee Health.

Thanks, Erika

We worked extensively with the Epic implementation team in our hospital system before going live earlier this year. Despite many meetings and discussions in the 18 months before “go live”, the only aspect of Epic we are able to use is for direct physician patient injury/illness care.

We had thought at the very least we could use Epic for nursing visits too, but since those are non-billable visits, many issues arose. Anything else we tried to incorporate into Epic was simply too cumbersome and, as one of the implementation experts on the team said, once he finally understood the special needs of employee and occupational health, “would shut us down” given the workflow required.

If anyone has had any better experience, I would love to hear about it.

Best,

Dana

Is anyone aware using EPIC as their EMR for Occupational Medicine applications?
