[MCOH-EH] Hazardous drug testing

I thought we were on the same stage of this process you describe below (forming committees and making a plan) but apparently, our pharmacy has hired an outside contractor to come in on a quarterly basis and do swipe testing of various surfaces. They have tested 3 quarters now. I’m now playing a bit of catch up as we need to swiftly come up with a plan in the event the swipe tests come up with findings.

I don’t have any education or policies to share just yet but will certainly pass them along when we do.

We have not started testing, but forming committees and getting things started as to how this will look, educating staff and what exactly what follow up will be if exposed (what kind of testing) Do you have anything to share that you are doing in regards to any of these things, ie.. educating staff of the HD, PPE required, testing..?

Thanks,

Having any of you started testing based on USP 800 standards and, if so, if you receive a positive result, how are you handling any staff communication? Are there certain levels of contamination where your action plan is to clean the area but not notify staff? Are there levels that trigger staff testing?

So far, our testing has come back negative but the question has been raised, what do we do if we get something other than “non detected?”
