[MCOH-EH] covid testing

I’m not doing random testing, but I am testing anyone with symptoms or concerns of an occupational exposure. I typically set up a window of time they can come in. I meet them outside with specimen container already labeled with order forms complete. So I have them see me one minute apart. I have them do their own nares swab. Afterwards I have them pull their mask up, and I step forward and have them insert the swab into the package. Then I take all of them to the lab. I’ve done 95 tests since July, and two of them have been positive. I knew the two would be positive, because one had loss of taste and the other was a high risk community exposure.

I, too, am interested in hearing if any others are doing random employee testing. There is some interest in our organization and many questions about how to do it.

Subject: [MCOH-EH] covid testing

Hi all,

Is anyone doing covid testing for employees as a general or random surveillance? Not for symptoms or exposures but more due to surveillance and employee concerns?

We are not doing that here but are getting questions about it.

Many thanks,
Lisa
