[MCOH-EH] Choosing 2-dose vs 3-dose hepatitis B vaccine regimen

We chose to switch to Heplisav at Spartanburg Regional. We are a hospital based Employee Health and do not bill for the vaccine. For us, it was worth it to not hunt people down for the 3rd vaccine. We have indeed had Hepatitis B positive exposures at our facility.

Cross posting OEM and MCOH.

I went over the financials with our Director of Pharmacy yesterday. Even with a generous allowance for the cost of providing the third dose in the series, plus the heartburn of chasing folks down, etc., etc.…there is still a substantial difference in the retail cost of the vaccines (rather than the Medicare reimbursement).

In our community here in South Carolina, in our hospitals, and in public safety workforces, I do not recall the last time we had an HBsAg-positive source in any of the BBFEs we have managed.

When the option for the Heplisav was presented, curious as to how you decided to either switch to it, or continue with one of the recombinant vaccines.

Thanks for the time to respond.
