Our budget for print books, ebooks, and audiobooks was completely
eliminated this year across the district and we have two open library
assistant positions that are not being filled - one in high school, one in
middle school. Also, some of our dual-certified media specialists were
assigned to teach a full class load in another subject so unable to do
their media specialist jobs this year (but of course they are trying to do
both). Overall media budget not frozen... yet. In a normal year it gets
frozen in February/March, so imagine it may happen sooner this year but
without the ability to buy any books or fill the open staff positions, the
rest of the budget isn't as important since we have already paid for our
online databases this year.
