[MCOH-EH] ] t spot vs. quantiferon gold

Good afternoon,

We changed our process from 2 step PPD to TSPOT approximately 2 years ago and well worth the change. Our main reason for the TSPOT vs QFT was due to local and state health department also use TSPOT; however, in studies the TSPOT had a slightly higher sensitivity in latent TB. Prior to the change,
Our protocol was to obtain a QFT if 2 step PPD or post exposure PPD was positive. The employee had to be sent to outpatient lab for collection at the hospital because of the number of tubes and specific instructions as to how the specimen needed to be drawn, then shook and put up. I did speak to a rep recently in regards to QFT and was told this what no the case anymore, though we have elected to continue with TSPOT. The collection, packaging and shipping have been a simple process that my staff has enjoyed.
Hope this helps.

Thank You,

Good Morning,

I am currently researching t spot vs quantiferon gold in the hopes of transitioning our facility to one of these. Suggestions, experience, or comments are greatly appreciated.

We provide it but following ACIP guidelines, do not recommend compared to the trivalent normal-dose alternative. Looking forward to more clinical data - beyond different antibody responses.
