At our Hospital 15 minutes observation is required for all. we administer the vaccine in a large conference room (with 2 doors at two ends, one-way traffic) at both campuses, after receiving the vaccine, the employee waits in a section near to the exit for 15-minute observation. each person picks up a timer (pre-set for 15-min) and meanwhile the person can register for CDC monitoring.

So far it has worked well without too much back up in relation to the 15 minutes wait time in the overall administration.

Post it notes are affixed to the windshield at the time of immunization which indicate when the clock started, and a different color post it note is used for 30 minutes vs 15. We have staff monitoring the observation area and instruct the vacinee to honk the horn if they need help. They are also told to keep all windows open and the doors unlocked. The weather here in Phoenix, not unlike that in Charleston, allows us to do this without problem.
