There is still time to register for this year's in-person/virtual WorkSafeBC-Northwest Association of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (NAOEM) conference, being held on Sat, Oct 29 at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We are so excited to welcome people from both sides of the border to our 3rd joint meeting, but the FIRST one being held in-person! Network with your other West Coast colleagues and find out what they've have been up to!

We have a full day in-person and online conference on Saturday, Oct 29th preceded by an in-person only pre-conference afternoon/evening on Friday, October 28th, which includes a worksite visit to Richmond Steel Recycling (where everything from paper clips to barges get recycled) and a preconference free evening workshop on chronic pain management

*         Develop confidence in having difficult conversations related to broadening pain education and treatment options beyond the prescription pad

*         Apply key pharmacological principles including tapering of opioids, initiating substitution therapy, and medication exit strategies

*         Identify community and regional resources and supports including WorkSafeBC programs

This session will enable participants to:

*         Discuss and describe the potential occupational health hazards at this worksite (scrap metal recycling)

*         Describe methods to assure that workers' health is maintained

*         Describe potential illness/conditions that would restrict any worker in that environment from working

*         Identify the various levels of the hierarchy of controls (elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment) for this work setting

*         Analyze potential tasks that meet your patient's current abilities
